A lot of people been telling me that they have uncapped internet. When I ask them how much they pay it goes from R200-R300. They are using normal adsl lines not wireless etc. One clue that I got that they were sharing the costs with friends. So how on earth they do it and which isp they use?

Neotel has an uncapped option for around R 469 NeoConnet Lite with Unlimited Data. Click on the smiley in my sig, will take you there.

You wont get true uncapped for that price in SA. They Lied.

ADSL (ie not wireless) shared with 4/5 people over a wireless link?

Must be a 4Mb link then because the contention ratio is high and it would affect the speed.
I share my 1mb line with almost as many people and since we're rarely all on at the same time I've hardly noticed it.

I dont and wont share my gprs connection.

Stuff you all.

The abundance of choices i have for internet connection is overwhelming.

Looking at the VC & MTN coverage maps, my house falls right in the middle of a spot only covered by EDGE/GPRS. 30m in any direction has 3G+...at least I can get 512Kb/s ADSL...

The 4MB line is contended already before you begin using it. 4/5 won't affect it severely, unless all 5 are going to try and max the line all the time.

They are using seperate lines, could they be using the same ISP account?

Well if there is an ISP offering a reasonably priced uncapped account with multiple concurrent connections then they've found the end of the rainbow!

. . . . please leave the GPS co-ordinates below. :D

Huh - your lucky, the telkom lines that comes to my house is BS. Its very far from exchange, its unloved, it runs through trees on other peoples land and because of this i have no landline and they told me i must trim the trees on other peoples property myself.

With so much interference on the line and having to go through days where the phone is just dead and then it works, and then it doesnt, and then its noisey, and then its fine - its a ball of laughs where i am.

And so i moaned like all hell and had telkom here loads of times - but wont be long and i'm moving from here so telkom can go f themsleves.

EDIT: trees touching the cable = interference/noise on the line in case you didnt know
