How can Vodacom improve?

  1. Remove the OOB Rate, with LTE around the corner this is a must,if your competitors can do it, so can you.
  2. One Voice tariff for both Pre-Paid and Contract Customers (see above for reasoning)
  3. If you cant remove OOB Rates or don't want to, add a hard cut off if you go over your cap or data bundle, followed by a clear sms telling the person that he has been cut off to save himself from a HUGE bills.
  4. Simplify your packages (None of this *111# to opt in, only after 12am,sundays only specials, thats valid for less than a week)
  5. Get some one on the forum who can respond to Mybb Vodacom news posts properly and is willing to help improve your company instead of just coming up with "this product isnt for you" "We are allready great" posts
  6. Get a better public spokesperson, the CEO isnt up for it.
  7. Add a uncapped option that throttles, but still allows users to download up to a 100gig a month
    for LTE

Vodacom tries to assist its customer in the rural areas, as best it can. They helped us tremendously by inserting a booster in our dwelling to improve our weak EDGE signal. It has really helped the consistency of the signal, but as so many people are pointing out, what we badly need in the platteland is 3G speed. It would go a long way in facilitating better communications in areas where it is lacking sorely. Thanks Vodacom for listening to our pleas and going the extra mile where possible.

Vodacom makes a big deal of LTE, but they only roll it out to a tiny part of the country.
And if we pay for data, let us at least use it up. Vodacom takes away any leftover data after only 60 days - and they use up this month's data before we can use last month's data. C'mon Vodacom, let us use last month's data first. And do the same as you do for phone calls - let us "store" the data we don't use for 5 months - we need it during festive seasons.
And your coverage map is not accurate! I get a "poor" signal on 3G/HSDPA and your map shows that I have good coverage.

Never had problems with Vodacom until recently. We've switched broadband from Web-Africa to Vodacom and now we have endless problems. My suggestion is too improve up-time and consistency on the overall network.

We all know problems do occur, but in this event when contacting the customer service, one would expect the consultant to be an expert and not just pass the ball to "Telkom". Unless the problem is on the Telkom lines of course, but in my case the problem is definitely not. The last thing you want is too appear incompetent in ensuring your end of service delivery is covered.

Minor issues chase clients away so take care of your smaller client-base!!!

I have the mofaya 2G+2G package.
During the day I'm at work at a retail store and don't have access to internet. My reason for having internet is for personal use and not work related so the 2G suits me fine if I don't download media. Felix's jump on live streaming took approx 1.7G of data, that would deplete my 2G.

We get 2G of night owl from 12pm but its not practical to stay up till so late with work in the morning. My suggestion is that Vodacom consider to make the data off-peak like the weekender contract so that it does get used up by us private users on weekends and can make use of YouTube and other streaming services like supersport.
Even better would be to double the off-peak data.

The reason why I took the mofaya instead of adsl was cost. Instead of paying R150 for an adsl line, and additional fees for my data, this seemed to be value for money, the speed is a huge bonus.

So basically weekend data as part of the night-owl bundle is what I suggest Vodacom do to enhance my opinion of Vodacom and my experience as an internet user.

Which new products would you like to see?
Vodacom only offers ONE router on its data packages. I would love to have more options to choose from. Also, gaming stuff would be awesome!

Are there areas where Vodacom can improve its support?
I honestly think that Vodacom does a good job with their support system. If I had any criticism, it would be that they almost have too many support departments. I sometimes get transferred to different departments because I did not use the correct channel.

Can they make it easier for you to buy their products?
I cannot convert my TopUp contract airtime into data and sometimes find myself buying a different network’s data bundles. If I could convert airtime allocated by Vodacom I would buy extra airtime just to buy a bigger data bundle.

Where do you think the company is losing ground against its competitors?
Reception in rural areas (I’m pretty sure this will be the most common response by Vodacom customers)

Improve the free SMS service on their Website - it is not very user-friendly.

Vodacom needs to stop playing catch up with other networks and start to innovate and bring better services and products to the market. That's about all I have to say about that.

1. Focus on improving coverage area. Where I live I often have to go outside just to make a call. Mobile data is completely out of the question!
2. Quicker upgrades on handsets. After 2 years you sometimes do not find your phone listed on the manufacurers website!

Which new products would you like to see?
Bundled packages included wi-fi and 3G.
Contracts where the voice portion is VOIP and measured in terms of bandwidth.
Are there areas where Vodacom can improve its support?
Yes, the Web Portal used to be much easier to use before the made it the current one.
It should be easier to log in and manage services.
Can they make it easier for you to buy their products?
Yes, companies like www.vtime.co.za are doing this already!
Where do you think the company is losing ground against its competitors?
Pricing. Cell-C and 8ta are offering better value for money right now.

Too many products and too complicated which doesn't make it easy to see what you are getting or to compare against competitors
Data and call costs still too high
Offer Month to month instead of 2 year contracts, ISPs already do this
Improve performance of data network, can often be very slow
Reduce dropped calls or reception in urban centres
Reduce operating system upgrade times on Android devices e.g. Jelly Bean out for a long time already yet still no upgrade in sight for Samsung Galaxy S2.
Move away from data bundle expiry on prepaid
Ensure all voice billing is per second

Vodacom should really look at the small pockets of where there is NO 3G or HSDPA (Uitzicht Durbanville). I am surrounded by towers but just a bit low for connections, in fact all the mobile suppliers have the same issue.

Vodacom should allow you to login into prepaid to BUY more time even though you have used up all airtime. Its so silly to not allow it, really.

High priced data addon bundles!!!

I have been with Vodacom since almost the beginning. Since it was Vodac back in 1994!
I have always been on the Business subs.

My issues are:

1) Why not check your records and reward long term customers with something? e.g. Discounts rates, free phone of your choice, free addons, free data... Anything for that matter! I am sure I am not the only loyal subscriber for that long! I have been tempted to move but keep on pushing through the problems, hoping for the best! Hell, I've been with Vodacom longer that most of your employees!!!

2) Everybody has a "Smart Phone" these days and they all use plenty of data! It's great to be able to access the net on the go, check what you want, when you want. The problem is the pricing of the addon data bundles! R49 for 100MB!!! REALLY!!!! I am sure you guys could do R49 for 500MB at least as an addon bundle!

I have to be so careful every month because I might run out of internet and have to pay ridiculous prices per MB of data!

Come on guys! Make a plan with those data addon bundles!!!!

1. launch fixed rate data on android devices, similar to BIS
2. R2 a MB is ridiculous, need to do something about that rate
3. other than that I'm happy with the rest

-Improve your 3G coverage. It was rather disappointing that I battled with data connectivity in the middle of Sandton and Randburg.
-That OOB shark- make it optional to the people that actually want it, not the default. You keep telling us that you CAN prevent users from going OOB (Jannie, I'm still waiting for an answer as to why this isn't default in the first place).

Vodacom needs to improve the nework quality, dropped calls and dropping internet connections are an issue.

1) Reduce prices.
2) If a special comes out implement the pricing across all packages, why disadvantage some who are paying crazy prices for a bundle when the price has dropped.
3) Increase coverage and access to LTE networks.
4) Consider the client a tiny bit and make their lives easier.
5) Stop wasting money on stupid sponsorships and let me pay for what I am using not some so weirdo can play rugby.
6) Out of bundle data prices are too high.
7) Roaming data is the craziest most ridiculous pricing on this earth. Come on data is virtually free in most other countries.

recommendations:
- Merge night owl & daytime bundles so that there is one bundle. Example.. 250 mb Night owl + 250 mb peak hours becomes 500 MB anytime.
- With carry over bundles, use the bundle that is carried over first, and once that is finished, only then use the currently months data.
- e.g. R25 to R50 per 1 GB of Data. This means instead of paying R299 for 1.5 GB or data.... we would pay in the region of R75 for 1.5 GB of data... this brings in more in line with ADSL data costs.
