I live in a sectional title and our board of trustees are idiots. I have repeatedly begged them to at least get more water tanks, a borehole, or any other measures in place. With the recent rains, they missed out on an opportunity to fill extra tanks. ****ing morons.

Lots of water in Fourways. Most of it is running down your street on any given day, however.

Lived there for +20 years, until recently. What I don't miss is dodging spray from passing cars on my daily run. Could never be sure if it was clean water, or the other kind.

In all seriousness, it sucks being without water. Our complex has a big water tank that I've used in emergencies, including Kakbegas recent one.

Might need to get a water tank/pump install if I have money in a few months.

The water supply to our area was FINALLY restored around 08h00 this morning - YAY! First thing I did was refill all of the water storage bottles I have available - in preparation for the next 'scheduled interruption'...

I just have a 1000l one that I empty into the garden with a pump just before the rainy season starts and then just put it on its side and hose it out.
I haven't connected it to the house but having water to flush the toilettes, wash the dishes, hand wash some clothes and take a bucket bath is pretty handy for not a lot of money.

That sounds perfect, exactly what I'd want. I've got a water filter so if push came to shove it could be for drinking but mainly what you say, toilets and hand washing dishes. Thirsty animals.

Every month or so I throw in some shock-it chlorine - 1g for every 100 litres. I'll probably give them a deep clean sometime this year. It's a schlep because I have to distribute all the water to the other tanks, rather than dumping it, but the cleaning itself is pretty quick with the power washer.

We normally just use the water for laundry but I can back feed the water into the house when we need it with a gardenhose.

Our 3x2000l Jojos fill exclusively with municipal water. Minimal maintenance because it’s clean chlorinated water that gets 30-50% replaced a handful of times a year with new water after each outage.
