So I just switched over to Afrihost this evening, my line is syncing at 2048kbps with ADSL2+
A file I downloaded via P2P (to test Afrihosts p2p speeds) ran at close to 35ish mbps, no one else on my network to my knowledge has downloaded the same file.
Below is a arp-a command, can anyone explain this to me, the file is working 100%, however I don't know where the 2xx.xxx.xxx.xxx addresses are coming from

Here is the torrent

And here is the ARP from my router

So basically does anyone know how I got these miraculous speeds? Do you perhaps know where the 2x IP addresses are coming from, and should I question my neighbors if they are using my wifi :p

Physically not possible. The line sync speed is the absolute maximum - aside from minor gains from compression.

i.e. Your measurements are wrong.

I see what you're saying but the fact that the files work 100% is the confusing bit, usually I would just expect the DL speed to dramatically decrease to the speeds expected with 2mbps

Did it actually download in 3 minutes?

The other option is that you had a partial file on the hdd already. Torrent apps can "repair" broken files, which would yield a higher "download" rate.

Downloaded in 03:10, didn't have the files before, and to my knowledge no-one on my network has either

Eyeballing that speed I'd say its running over a b/g wifi link.

Ping one of the 2xx addresses. If it returns 1ms latency then the neighbor/someone is definitely sitting on your WLAN/LAN.

To your knowledge, evidently your knowledge is limited, someone has downloaded the file before you. It is physically impossible to download that fast on a 2meg line.

Try a different file, see if you get the same results.

Edit.

Perhaps a speed test as well, please make sure you clear your cache or you might get a faster result than reality.

You should use Mac Filtering and Static IP's if you not doing it already and change your IP settings in the router to something else so they cant just type in the same IP settings.

OK mystery solved, turns out my neighbor was downloading the same file over my WiFi, luckily I allow them to use it so my security is OK :D
