Girl, clearly you have not grown up yet, and don't live in the real world. For me, it was passion. I Done a degree in Computer Games Development in the UK (but there are similar courses in SA as well). Gaming is a huge passion of mine and I couldnt see myself in any other industry.

Its really hard work, I will admit that, but if you really enjoy this field, then the hard work was just worth every minute.

The major requirement imo is patience. QA can become extremely repetitive and requires you to really think outside the box. But it's also fun as you get to break a system!

But yes, QA is a really good entry point, but its good if you wish to go up the ranks internally.
