Hi all :p

Question is in topic and relates to my conundrum.
Buying and stuck with 2 properties.

Place A will get Vumatel in a month. Close to main roads. In central area. Suburbs adjacent. BUT the place is a bit of a dump and needs some paint etc. 76sqm.
Place B doesn't have ADSL infrastructure. Should have LTE via Telkom. Modern apartment but a little smaller than A. 54sqm.

Prices are about 100k apart. B being more expensive. Both places aren't too far from work. Place B is 10 minutes further, A is 2. A has public transport in abundance as well.

Thoughts?

Internet availability is probably the last thing I'd consider when buying a house / apartment.

This.

Future value is most important. Never buy in a neighborhood that is in decline.

Neighborhood isn't in decline as such. Just the apartment hasn't really been taken care of. Place is in Northern JHB if it matters. Stone throw from Cresta and no :p not Windsor

If the apartment needs some work, and the rest of the apartments are good, then it might be a good buy if the price is right, and you can afford to fix it up.

Place B 54sqm.

That alone would push me to Place A.

It just seems like the overall better place. Use that R100k price difference to fix up place A.

Yeah... if the areas for both are decent enough, then I'd chose the larger of the two properties.

Do you have or are planning to have kids? School catchment area's might be a consideration.
