Hi all,oky so my line and account is with MWEB.

I want to move away due to the pricing and would rather go for capped unshaped like afrihost giving you double the data..plus i hardly use 60GB a month

the other reason is mweb still locks you on 1mb although everyone got bumped to 2mb..

so i want to know, when do i cancel and which date ect,and does my line get killed and i have to re apply with telkom to activate my line again once mweb has been canceled ?

Thanks.. :)

Your ADSL line and adsl ISP account are not locked to each other, so you can migrate your line back to Telkom whenever you like without it interfering with your internet access. You will need to do this before transferring the line to any other ISP. Note that you must be very clear on your wording here - do not cancel, or you will have to re-apply with Telkom, which is not necessary.

All you need to do is put in a request to MWEB to transfer your line back to Telkom, and state categorically that you do not want it cancelled.

The process of moving your line can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, but you can change ISPs without waiting for this, although you may want to consider your cancellation terms to avoid paying for two ISP accounts in the same month.

Phoned MWEB,the lady that assisted me was very helpful ..

oky so all i need to do is send mweb an email stating that i wish to terminate my MWEB acoount ,but 30days in advance, they will then migrate the line back to Telkom within 2-15 working days..then my mweb uncapped account will still run till the end of June and will terminate on the last day(cause the bill in advance)..

She said this way there will be no surprise costs as i notified them 30days in advance,Only thing is that Telkom will then pro rata bill me for half a month or remainder of the month with the follow up month.. But this i knew

another question, which isp do i go for that offers the most cap data for the money, like afrihost has 50+50 for R199 pm.

i do gaming a lot and youtube streaming

Afternoon, you will need to submit a cancelation request in writing (via email) to [email protected] and provide the following detail:

Customer name and surname
Customer’s ID number
MWEB Email address
Reason for cancellation
Product(s) to cancel
Product(s) to remain active

YOu can request the line to be moved back to Telkom, instead of cancelling it.

A calender months notice period would have to be served, if you request cancellation today. The account would be scheduled to cancel the end of next month.

Please let me know should you require any assistance from me.

I have a Web Africa home capped account and it is excellent for streaming and gaming. I would highly recommend! It's a little more expensive than the Afrihost or Axxess options but I find it more stable.

Edit: Why not get a test account from Afrihost, Axxess and Web Africa - they all offer free 1 GB accounts or 3 GB test account in Axxess' case.

Axxess no longer offer free trial accounts.

I see they don't, but I'm pretty sure their accounts are similar to Afrihost's capped - except maybe they aren't as contended? But who really knows, they are both running on MTN's network which is lacking capacity at the moment...see Axxess' "Network Status"
