How do I change Change C:\Documents and Settings\ABC to something else?

How do I change Change C:\Documents and Settings\ABC to C:\Documents and Settings\XYZ in XP? (example)

I have been through Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management and have changed the options in the Local Users and Groups Options - but it still doesn't work?!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

On cell so ill be brief. Maybe try right click My Documents folder, go to properties, somewhere there should be an option to move it to a different location. If this is what you want.

Edit, missread, Im not sure changing the user name will change that folders name. cant remember how without checking on pc.

You can't change it while there's a user account with name ABC.

Why exactly are you trying to do this? What exactly are you wanting to accomplish? The reason I ask is there are other ways of skinning the cat and I don't quite understand what end result you're trying to get.

As an aside, I have all my data on a network folder (but it could be on another drive), and My Documents is pointed to that network location. This way my data is untouched when I load a new operating system. It also means that from any workstation on the LAN I simply log on and click My Documents to access all my data (because My Docs on each workstation is pointed to the network folder). Because I use MS Outlook, I have my pst file in a folder called Mail under My Documents, so my mail file is backed up with the rest of my documents & stuff.
 
I have recently formatted. I backed up a previously installed audio VST (EZdrummer) which uses a .dll file to run the plugin and a separate folder (on C) to hold the Audio samples.

The problem is that when the VST was installed it was set to read the samples from C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew Cherry but now after I formatted i have renamed my account to C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew and therefore the plugin cannot find the target.

The reason for me backing up the plugin this way is because I lost the installation which I cannot find anywhere...
 
Would it not be easier to either,

Just create the folder that the app is looking for and put the files in it??
Or
Find the config file that is pointing to \Andrew Cherry and change that (assuming the setting is not in the registry since you whacked that)?

Try creating a windows shortcut "Andrew Cherry" pointing to "Andrew"

:D:Dthats true..There is always a action for a equal reaction,and windows love to toy with you.
AFAIK you can not just change that as those are windows architecture structures...but i do know that you can try and edit the registry.Be warned:)
 
You can change the values in the registry but be careful when doing this.

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

I usually change the "My Documents" to point somewhere else.
