How do i check my speeds?

Hi All.
I keep seeing people comparing speeds and all that, where do i go to check the speeds i an connected and and downloading/uploading at?
Is there a site, is it software or do i just download something and see what the kbps rate it?

P.S. 256 is also slow today, but still faster than ISDN and muuuuuuuch cheaper on phone calls.

You'll see as soon as you enter this website, on the main page there's a tab called "speed". Just click on it and select the kind of speed test you want to do eg international, local, whatever.

Alternatively use Rodent's speed test at http://rodent.za.net/speed/ - This test also logs the results so that speed trends can be analysed.
