I want to start afresh and reload WinXP.I want to take all the crap off my PC and format my 80gig HDD and start like a new PC loading WinXP, Office, etc. How do I format this only HDD in my PC? I did a backup onto my external 250gig HDD.:o

then just boot it with the cd and follow the steps.

agree to the rules - F8
then delete the partition, follow the instructions, need to press L to confirm and everything. After it is formatted, just creat a new partition. I always choose NTFS (not the quick one, dont know the difference).
Or you can create more than one partition as well.

After the partition is created just load xp on it. It will load the files in bios and then it takes you to an windows page to enter your username ect.
That takes another 39min.

Then you done.

Need to set it up in your bios, boot from your cd rom with the xp cd inside.

once it has booted from cd, select install fresh copy of windows, it will ask you which partition, just delete your old one and create a new one and it will then format it. Just read the instructions on screen its very straight forward.

Thanx guys for your useful response. The reason why I want to format my HDD is because I loaded Vista transformer and it destroyed WinXP,and Vista transformer is slow with errors. I tried reloading WinXp but it still not the same, that's why I need to format my HDD first.

Is this Transformation Pack 6.0? It's been working fine for me for ages...

worked okay for me too. Uninstalled it, ran a registry fixer, and now XP is healthy too.

No probs with transformation pack here either, love it :)

just use a windows xp boot cd.and follow instructions.Just make sure u set u primary boot device to cd-rom.It is really not that difficult.

I loaded the same vista trans pack on two different machine and I have the same problem with both machine, the one is my work Pc and the other is my personal Pc.It made the machine slow and the apps took long to open, that is why I uninstalled it, but it corrupted most of my files.

Thats why you have to use System Restore. Heppened to me too. I always create a new restore point if I do something silly on my PC. :D ;)
