How do I pay my fines?

Does anyone know how to pay traffic fines with a cc.
Tried on clicks, but just getting: "Service request failed. Invalid Notice Number Format."

I had the same issue with Clicks, don't think you can pay all municipalities/fines with the Easy Pay number.

I had to use https://www.paycity.co.za/ as it didn't work on the easy pay site either

It's your legal right to first wait for the summons to be delivered.

If that is served then they typically give you a week or 2 to pay the fine as a last chance before needing to appear in court. In the times we are living in what are the chances of the summons being served. So do the maths and do what is right for you.

Just know that some fines are a fine and summons in one, if the fine lists a court date anywhere then that's one of them so pay that fine asap or make sure you aappear in court.

How would I know if a summons has been served?
These fines are from around March/April.
Never received anything in the post

Won't this also affect my ability to renew my car license?

Fines via the post is not a summons, a summons has to be delivered in person to you. A summons could possibly be delivered by registered letter but then you would need to go collect and sign for that at the Post Office.

The only thing to be aware of is that they sometimes will deliver them to your housekeeper, visitor at your home etc. But the rate of summons delivery in Sa must be miniscule so the chances of you being summoned for a fine is tiny.

Some municipalities won't renew a license when there are outstanding fines, I'm not sure how that works because I've never experienced that but maybe someone else can comment.

I'd like to know if Cape Town is affected by that.

Yes happened to me a few years ago, couldn't get new license coz of a R150 fine I didn't even know about. Had to go to Gallows to sort out the now R300 fine (admin fees).
 
I've asked the mods to seperate this to another thread, because my license renewel is up soon and I have an unpaid fine.

I applied to do it online where they post the license, they haven't mentioned my fines yet so hope it goes through.

Yeah never had issue, but again in cpt I was told so long as you don't get a summons or have a warrant for your arrest then there nothing to worry about it.
