How do I secure a printer.

You guys are going way overboard with this, I told her to take the snake eyes power cable with her when she is not in the office. Finish and klaar.

install a keyswitch in series with the normal on/off switch to disable the printer. Very cost effective and simple.

Take the cartridge out if she's not going to be there for an extended period and really this paranoid.

How about just TRYING to trust people and see if anyone does use it first?

He asked "How to secure the printer" in the OP not "How to trust my co-workers" so the presumption was that they can not trust them.

I would like to hear a follow up of the "trust" in future. ;)

Hire a private security guard for the printer. And to think this isn't the most farfetched suggestion in this thread...

Quick story, my aunt is an Estate Agent and she has a black and white laser printer at work, she was told if she wants to print in colour she must bring her own, fair enough she has an unsed one at home.

How to I set the printer up so it cant be used by her co workers?

Thanks.

Does it have an alarm system?

She doesn't have the printer there yet.

So how would they know?

Put it in a cupboard.

Lock the cupboard when done.

Swallow the key. (optional)

Flash the printer with a custom firmware to disable the usb port. Then she can always remotely enable it with an android phone via the app
