How do I use MTN SIM on a Vodafone E272?

I got a Vodafone E272 on the weekend and I'm using it on XP with MTN and Vodacom.

I just stopped the Vodafone Mobile Connect Service and set it to manual
so that it doesn't run VMC when you insert the modem, I use E620 Tool
instead.

Works like a charm.

E272 on MTN

@guyu

Thanks for clearing that up, I'm not familiar with the E620 tool you refer to is it not possible that the tool is ignoring data sent from the modem or skipping an authentication step present in the VMC and HMC software? Perhaps the author of the software could chime in here?

If the E272 from Vodacom is not networked locked that's at least partly good news but still doesn't change the fact you can get one outside SA and unlock it yourself for much less than what Vodacom is charging. The only downside to it is that Vodacom isn't likely to service it for free, but I've never had any technical difficulties with either the E220 or E272 and been using the latter for nearly a year now so it's almost outside of its warranty period anyway.
