How do you cope without water?

In the US, I’ve never ever experienced a water or gas issue. I remember once aroun 2005 or so there was a brief 2-3 hour power failure due to a heat wave causing everyone to turn on their airconditioning. It then occurred to me: everyone had airconditioning - first world problems.

Honestly I am so sick of it. I worked out that there are probably 6-10 DAYS per year without any electricity or water.

Where I previously lived, which is only 2km down the road from where I live now, there were power failures every week for up to 18 hours, every week. A lot of the time it was stolen cables, shoddy infrastructure and of course illegal connections.
