How do you deal with Mac "weaknesses"

Good post, i agree with everything..
the problem i find is that ppl are so used to windows, when it comes to a mac they want it to work like windows.... why not embrace something different instead of buying a mac and saying "but my windows machine can do that". Its not only annoying, its short sighted and obtuse.

As for the wireless etc just working/printer just working, I guarantee you are doing something wrong. So instead of blaming the hardware/OS, try learn about it, you might realise its alot easier than you thought.

I would love to see an only mac user try use a windows machine and make the transition as easily as you would if you just bothered.

It was a nightmare for me when i made the transition as well, i was so indoctrinated with the windows way of things, i was totally lost.

Broken1, those alternatives i suggested will work more than fine :), you can use the web stats in the mean time. ALSO. what you could do is install, istatpro (http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatpro/) it runs on your menu and you can actually see how much traffic is transfered on your modem?:) thus you know your package size and can deduce from the usage stats how much you have left.

We gave alternatives to his issues, how is that not support. You are one to speak linux fanboi.

As I write this from my Windows 7 desktop, I cant do anything but smile and realize how limited some people are.. and how stupid assumptions are :D Smile!

whinging about something and asking and accepting support are two different things.

I dunno, I read that OP and I have answered way more hostile posts in helping people both through Windows and Linux problems. Its more the user support base :) Its so friendly!

Ag... poor simple folk like me can only dream of aspiring to know as much and be as cool as you :D

One day when I am big.

Don't worry, the day is coming sooner than you think.. :D at least you have something to aspire to :D

I Run Windows 7... its good.. almost up to OSX standards.

EDIT: oh wait.. I take that back. *please god not another Mac vs Pc thread!

But Windows 7 doesnt allow me to do it the Vista Way *whines* (-< that is a joke)

I am not anti-Mac. I am just trying to discuss the issues I am having and find ways around them.

Thanks, I will have a look at iStat and see if it helps me!!

Yes, I can contact Microsoft and Vodacom to fix their software - but it's easier to use Windows to be honest.

If you're not willing to voice your opinion to the vendor to whom you pay good money for their product, then your really can't expect things to change, can you?

I feel like everyone is attacking me for not being all fanboi about the OSX experience.

No, you're getting attacked because you're blaming Apple/OSX for the shortcomings of Microsoft software. I'm not condoning people's attacking responses. But you've got to be fair. If Microsoft Excel don't work as well as Microsoft Excel, who do you think is to blame? Complain to the right people.

huh?

Incase I was unclear. I like windows 7, its pretty good. I don't like Vista. I really like osx. better?

broken1, all the things that you are experiencing are normal and the fact is that they are real issues.

At the end of the day you must use what works best for you, I work on a PC and run a blog and do some design stuff in my spare time. What I do at work would be very difficult to do on my mac because of the very reasons you stated but on the flip side, running my blog and design projects would be a nightmare on my pc. My love is that mac but some things are just better done on a pc.

Also, I think the guys here should take it easy, its an honest question, if you don't like it don't reply.
