on an old mbp, he drive had he mac partition as well as a windows partition created by bootcamp.
For some reason bootcamp would not remove the windows partition, so I went into disk utility to do it manually.
Not concentrating - i somehow managed to format the mac partition - although it happened too fast, the process took seconds to "wipe about 350GB. The machine is simply not that quick.

So now I am faced with this:

How do i restore that data, or original partition ?

Any clues would be most appreciated

If all else fails try these guys:

Image immediately, then a tool like R-Studio to scan for the Partition,it might just have nuked the Partition table. Worst case if it's worth the money send to Data Recovery - whatever you do don't try to boot from the disk or use it in a Dock longer than needed to make the snap

its not the end of the world. - screenshot above shows "ssd clone".
the original drive from that machine was replaced fairly recently, so there are 2 copies of what has been lost - each a few months old.
probably about 2 months of data is lost, but mainly music, nothing too critical.
most data recovery apps have failed, but "file salvage" by subrosasoft seems to be doing fairly well.
it has found about 80GB so far (about 25% progress at the moment) none of the others got beyond 2GB

i'll clone from the "angelbird" drive - - the thing is lightning fast !

You could buy a spare computer for the same money.
