Debian 12 Bookworm

You recon that based on what?
I'll argue ubuntu(and by extension mint) has done more to bring linux to the masses than any other distro.
Personally, I just like Debian. Always have.

Install base, install DE, install my software. Modify things the way I like them.

Set and forget.

Also helps that the installer is as fantastic as it was when I tried it out in 2006.

For anyone interested.... MXL 23 is being loaded unto the servers they just have not started announcing the release yet.

sigh there goes my coming weekend.....

It's worth pointing out..... the Civ5 port is kindof atrocious but it's a good effort compared to many other ports.
What's your problem with civ5? I have had zero issues running it under steam (flatpak). But on the other hand I have never run it under doze.

Don't remember all the problems but for one..... they got the filename cases wrong so most mods have trouble running on it.

EDIT: I remember Vox Populi specifically being outright incompatible with it.

Did the initial install, everything works as expected except for audacious not actually working on pipewire but you can switch to the old one so not an issue.

And the usual base transition niggles that will work themselves out in time. Dunno why but it feels like DB12 is a major milestone, maybe just the 6.1 kernel and pipewire.

Well it's been fine so far, WINE is actually better implemented now and festuh.

One problem still remaining exposed by QBitorrent when it's using the FS upon shutdown..... I was literally blocked from being able to shut down in any way even from another tty because I initiated a shut down without first shutting down QBT.

The computer literally just said no and kicked me to a GUI login screen where neither the mouse nor keyboard functions.

The major problem still seems that it's a server OS with desktop tacked on.... the devs don't understand typical end user behavior because they are themselves not typical users and they are in most cases utterly condescending to anyone that uses PC's differently to them.... ironically displaying the same behaviour as corporations only with less expensive lawyers.
