So I've phoned the MTN number, I've emailed MTN, I've been to my local MTN dealer twice, I've been patient for 3 months, and STILL MTN are overcharging me R200 for a R199 contract deal I took out. It's only double what I should be paying hey! That's how to treat a customer, just ignore him! Hey MTN, CATCH A WAKE UP!! This is just a simple upgrade, not rocket science.
And don't forget to refund all the money YOU STOLE from, me - yes, it's theft.
They tell me that they are working on the problem, but month after month I'm still paying this astronomical bill. Not only are they stealing my money, they are continuously stealing my money.

how about let's start by posting a copy of the deal you took and your invoice showing what they are charging you?

Good luck OP... I was a subscriber a good 8 years ago... they cocked up my billing from day dot.. eventually just let them go and then they decided in 2015 I owe them money.. told them to go fly a kite..

Same issue. Took a deal from MTN direct. Charging me incorrect for the past 4 months.

Refuse to fix it

This is the only way

Easy, reverse the debit order and then when they fight, show them they breached contract (if this is indeed the case) Keep records of your trying to contact them via mail etc so it's all legally above board and problem solved.

So this is an upgrade you took? Was the previous contract finished?

if you thinking old handset fee and new fee in same invoice, mtn doesn't work this way, even on early 21 month upgrade they cancel the old contract and start the new one. So you 'score' the last few months of the old handset charge. been that way as long as i can remember.

I had an issue with my previous contract, which was a BYOD/SIM only one, when they claimed I had included a phone. My copy of the contract showed I hadn't. I kept at them each time I got my statement and kept records of the date, time, who I spoke to, of every interaction, and after a couple of months got the issue "escalated", and then asked for the manager etc. Eventually after 9 months they acknowledged the mistake and credited me with all the extra I had had to pay in. So yes, it does take some effort.

I am, but more along the lines of, multiple early upgrades to super cheap contracts. Possibly with a device balance clawback still outstanding along the line. Would need to see the invoice to make an intelligent diagnosis

hence i asked for the invoice and deal in my first post (which he still hasn't provided :cautious:) - I doubt its a clawback - like i said they write off the last few months of the contact and start the new contract from then - and no they don't add the missing months to the contract to increse termination date - one of the very few good reasons to be on an MTN contract.
I think in the OP case he signed a contract on Deal A (which he asked for) but the store he did the upgrade selected Deal B on the system (finger error selecting from a drop down or deal was not on the drop down and they tried to manually insert and f-upped) - happened to me once with MTN except in the reverse they undercharged me - i did my Due diligence and notified then twice - never got fixed so i left it.

Update on the above - I put my complaint on the MTN Facebook page and got a reply from them quickly. After a few more days they said they would fix my account and credit me with a small amount. I squealed about this small amount and pointed out that they owed me R656 in overcharged fees. They then amended the credit to about two thirds of that amount. I squealed again and was told the issue had been escalated to billing again. I'm now waiting for my next bill to see what they have done, but there has been significant progress made.
Thanks guys for all your inputs.
