1 hand, 12'o clock
I sit as Low as I can, almost lying down, and then clench the wheel at 12:00 with my right hand, with my left hand holding the left seat's headrest.
I only do the 10 to 2 thing when I see i'm starting to fall asleep again (usually after I hear car horns and wake up the 2nd or 3rd time)
Most of my driving is long distance, so I've adapted that style:
Right elbow on window rest with index and middle finger clenching the wheel at 3 o' clock and thumb stabilizing. Left hand rests on my left leg and hold onto the bottom of the steering wheel with 3 fingers at 6 o' clock.
So basically how do you hold your steering wheel?
I drive an '06 Polo my steering wheel looks as such: Image
I've got two positions basically:
hands at 9 and 3 with thumbs over the bars for traffic, cornering or when going fast.
then when I'm cruising on a nice long stretch, left elbow is resting on inner door arm rest and holding 4/5ish by the bar.
and right hand is assisting from bottom while resting on legs.
I never liked the 10 2 position. Just feels weird!
Not sure what you mean by that, but your thumbs shouldn't be held around the rim of the wheel - they should rest on the wheel. I'm more of a 10 and 2 o'clock holder, myself.
right elbow sticks out the driver side, right thumb grabbing the steering wheel. If I don't write sms with my left hand then I hang my arm out the passenger window... go figure it out
I wonder if people will cheer or moan when you get barred Motoring and Transportation for necro'ing old threads.10 and 2 for me.
If it is an insightful old thread they should "cheer".I wonder if people will cheer or moan when you get barred Motoring and Transportation for necro'ing old threads.
