How do you measure jitter?

I have a fancy pants tool to record jitter but what is available to someone that's free or opensource?

So we dont record and just test when needed, then most times sorting QoS solves any VoIP issues. Not even sure if this is for VoIP. Smokeping, PRTG100, not perhaps what you looking for?

Sorry my needs for testing jitter are really simple, and you can usually see if the SIP provider or ISP sucks. Typically its not either of them, but rather the clients network.

Yes requires a client and server but not easy for long term trending.
