How do you solve a problem like Telkom?

So I really don't know where to tun anymore. After 2 months of intermittent connectivity with Telkom (my line disconnects 50+ times per day) and over 5 seperate faults raised I have come to the conclusion that Telkom is actually unable to fix my telephone line. Each time a new fault is raised, they "test" it, says it's fine and close it. If they bothered to try to call me they would hear, by the ridiculous amount of static on the line, that it is anything but fine. But they don't bother. The fault keeps getting "escalated" but they are unable to fix it.

I am a relatively high bandwidth user and I work from home, so intermittent connectivity massively impacts my productivity. Has anyone had a similar experience with Telkom an managed to fix it? If so, how did you do it?

BTW one of the other symptoms is that my phone occasionally gives a single, long ring. It even did it while the Telkom technician was here at one stage. He had no clue what is was (not very surprised as he wasn't very clued up anyway), does anyone else have any idea what may cause this long ring?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Had new line put in... that was the only way...

Log a voice line fault for noise on your line, you can do it online.

Do NOT even mention adsl or internet. If they fix the noise the rest will come right. Keep a record of your fault references.

They put in a new drop cable after tracing the fault and it was fine after that, but took a while to get to that point and a few calls to the Regional Network Manager.
