How do you typically indicate at a roundabout / traffic circle?

I cannot believe this is a question.

You indicate left when you are going left. You don’t indicate when you are going straight and you indicate right when you are going right.

This is no different in a circle.

Indicating going left right on the exit is a nice courtesy gesture so the person in line doesn’t need to wait a whole 1 second longer.

The better question should be which lane you are entering when you are hitting circle…because you cannot be in the outside lane if you are turning right.

Except when driving on the wrong side of the road in another country. Traffic circles do my head in, so if I'm not driving the complete way round the dang thing I'm on the side of the road before the circle having a little cry, so forget indicating, I'm just trying not to kill myself or anyone else.

because 99% of everyone else messes up any other approach, just stop doing it entirely and the roads will be safer

anyone who does 5 or 8 should burn in HELL! ... cars waiting to enter the circle have no context of where the 'F' you entered it previously, ALL they care about is where are you going next, if I'm watching you approach me with a right signal flashing I won't enter the circle

if I then see you exiting before you pass me while still signaling right you just F-ed my chance of moving, F-you and your entire family tree to eternity!
 
When I was still working at Sasol, each workday we had a morning meeting at 08:00 to discuss what happened during the previous night and what the plans and actions are for the day. The meeting starts off with a short safety talk (<5 minutes) and each one participating in the morning meeting has his turn in doing so.

Once, when it was my turn, I gave my talk about the correct way of using a traffic circle and I used a very detailed and informative video that I got from the Arrive Alive website. After showing the video, many sat there amazed at what they've just "learned". One colleague openly admitted that he was always unsure as to how to exactly maneuver a traffic circle, this showed him exactly what to do.

This safety talk then went on to a ±30 minutes heated discussion between those that said the video was wrong and those that said that is indeed the correct way. The opinions and reasoning of those opposing the correctness of the videos were truly mind boggling! And I must say, most of those around the table were highly educated with chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering degrees, of which some were PhDs.

Depends on how the rest of the population treat the circles though. Small circles are often treated as 4 way stops in ZA so if you get to one of those you best treat it as a 4 way stop or you're gonna get the middle finger.

However none of this matters as no-one cares in KZN. It's matter of survival. I find it helps to slow down a lot.

By signalling when entering to turn right (3rd exit) you give people coming from the opposite direction ample chance to either speed up or slow down by knowing your intention early on.
 
And just like that we know MYBB staff bought their license.

If you don't treat a mini circle effectively as a four way stop you should get the middle finger. Whether one agrees with it or not, SA road law/regulations stipulate that mini circles are treated similarly as four way stops.
