I have taken out one of the new straight up packages. I want to use the voice on my cell and the data through USB on pc. Would the dual sim option allow this on CellC?

Cell C Rep please clarify

Good Day

The dual sim, you can only have one active at a time.
so would not be able to use one in data stick and have phone on together.

Switch sims without opening the phone cover and restarting the phone i guess. Or is this something else?

The CellC dual sim is 2 sim cards with the same phone number, I think.
So you can have 2 phones with one number and airtime balance and can switch between them...

You're thinking of a dual sim phone, which is one phone that takes 2 sim cards.

Dual Sim (primary and secondary), Both can be in 2 separate devices on the network at the same time. Both can make calls and data calls at the same time from one account. When you receive a call the primary sim rings and if you don't answer, the secondary rings and if you then don't answer, goes to voicemail. In this way you could use the secondary as a data sim as well.

MTn has it, but not cell C

How is that a positive?
I might want to talk on the phone while searching for something on my tablet, which I can't do

Lol@ iPhone not being a normal phone - what is it - a god phone?
Lol2@ table :p Would that be a normal table or a wooden one?

But seriously, I don't see the benefit of this as explained by rep

I have two phones. One I use every day and the other is for when I know I am not going to care for it much (a night on the town, camping trip, braai at friends where alcohol may affect my coordination).
Being able to just grab my "don't care if I loose or break it" phone without having to change the sim is a pleasure. Duel sim rules!

Ill go in more details my bad

iPhone has a micro sim , most other phone have normal sim cards.
To swap between them becomes a issue most times.

SO some people have a phone for the week and one for the weekend, or just like to change ever so often.
All you do is switch one off and other on, with out issue of changing sim etc..

Yep. Understand. But we want feature where both are on at the same time, with a primary and secondary sim. As explained earlier, to share the data bundle on contract between phone and tablet! Like MTN Does. Will we get??????

As far as I know, MTN's "Dual Call" works the same way as Cell-C's, only Vodacom have "Multi Data SIM", which allows up to five devices to share data bundles from the primary account simultaneously.

Cell-C, we really need something like this.

I currently have it with MTN :) Works as i stated above. Can make calls and use data of the secondary sim. Primary sim always rings first. If second sim/phone is switched on, then it will ring only after you don't answer primary. Thereafter if you don't answer secondary sim/phone goes to voicemail. Works perfect.

Was just in a Cell C outlet to enquire about a duel sim.
I was told that I can only have/use my data on one sim and not the other. I.e. One sim can make/recieve calls and use data, the other sim can only to make/recieve calls. Is this correct?

Both sims should work for both data and voice, but unlike MTN only one sim can be switched on at any time!

Have anyone tested this? Is it true?

I got dual sim. Does not work the way we want it to. You cannot have them in 2cell phones at the same time. One must be switched off, else the last one switched on becomes the active one.

Been waiting for cellc to change this for a while now. Not sure if they will. The only regret with porting to cellc. My mtn dual sim worked very well. One phone was primary which always rang first and if not answered it went to the secondary sim. One could use any phone or both simultaneously, and you were billed on the same account.

The ringing part is not of IMPORTANCE to me. Just want 2 devices to be able to be on at the same time withthe second one being able to share the data package.....

How hard can that be cellc?

In response to above, both sim work perfectly for voice and data, its just that only one can be on.
