Our company recently launched a new product where you get R49 per month top-up for 24 months for a once-of fee of R99. That's over a R1000's worth of airtime, and trust me, the math is solid, we are not losing money on this.

Now, not to be funny about it, but isn't something wrong in a scenarion where the markup on airtime sales is so high that companies don't actually NEED to charge so much for contracts?

Does anyone know how much money a service provider gets from a Vodacom or MTN when they sell airtime?

Looks to me you are literally begging us to ask for a link. Is this an attempt at spam?

Dear BizKit87, Wag, and ajax.

Thank you for completely missing the point. Comments from individuals that have to hide behind screen names are of course always more authorative, aren't they?

One would think that an attempt at spam would include a hyperlink.

If you managed to read a little bit further you might have actually picked up on a question.

I know that you feel that quoting someone else's one-liner is a brilliant way to comment on a post, but that does not really answer the question. Simply posting a question that rings "Think we pay too much for airtime?" might be right up your alley, so stick to that if you feel you must.

The real question here (and you don't need a link for this) is why are we paying SO MUCH for airtime if vendors are raking in enormous profits already? Would it not make sense to investigate these costs, improve the flow of information and communication in our country?

Perhaps someone can actually READ the original question :

Somewhere along the line a lot of money is being paid to companies for doing absolutely nothing, money that we desperately need for education and improving basic living conditions, don't you think?

Alas, I guess you are more concerned with flaming people than actually trying to get to the bottom of this.

Thank you for proving yet again why South Africa is struggling.

Pardon our suspicion - it is your very first post and you are "bragging" about a new product your company has launched. First posters who post links in their posts get their post(s) deleted. We suspect(ed) that you were trying to get around this. If not, I (we) offer my (our) apologies.
