HI morkhans,
I do understand how complaining and giving feedback on a public forum should work.
I've done a number of 'thank you's to Vodacom - some that you've merged into massive threads that I can't really find again. If you search you may even find them (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...High-Latency?p=3893166&viewfull=1#post3893166 and http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/194655-Degrading-signal/page2 are two I've found in a few minutes).
However over the past year, there's a pattern : down for between 3- 6 weeks and up again for a week. I get really tired of nagging over and over again for the periods it is down, to have it rectified for a week and place a 'thank you Vodacom! You're the best! I love you!' when all they're doing is providing the service that I pay for and should get. It's really sad when we have to lick ass because we actually received a service we pay for. Also - due to this being a cycle - it'll go down within days of me having posted ...
When I say 'down', I don't always mean nothing / zero. Although many times I do, other times I can blast along at about 128k with my full signal HSDPA. Bear in mind that I'd use them for 5 years and my data costs alone were R600.00pm. I still needed to take out Telkom 3G and Cell C contracts to avoid needing to go to postnet again.
I am not a Vodacom client right now - so I haven't tried the network in the past 2 weeks. I can't comment on what is happening now. I still - however - contribute to their revenue with my contracts that I make no use of anymore.
I must also tell you about service : the other night Cell C was on EDGE only and I sent a mail through to customer care. Being an ex Vodacom user, I half expected a generic 'here's your ref # and we'll look into the problem' with them either not coming back or coming back in the New Year. I woke the following morning and things were perfect yet again. I was horrified when later that day I received a reply from an accountable person asking for more details on the problem. I replied it was fixed - and he replied again letting me know there was actually an issue in my area.
Now with Vodacom, it took months of nagging and eventually they sent an engineer out to my place to test the signal. They promised feedback and ... nothing. I email my reference number and ... nothing. I PM'd VodacomData and ... nothing. To this day there has been ... nothing.
And lastly I've been with Vodacom for about 15 years and always raved. I've used their 3G for about 3 years and have two BIS contracts, a data contract and a Top Up contract. I never hated the company until this year when things degraded to such an extent it frustrated me. My BIS contract worked for all of 2 months before BIS would go down 20-30% per day. Friends would simply SMS because it was terribly unstable. This lasted 4 months before they fixed it :/
Merry Xmas
