How does one contact Cell C to report a technical problem with the data network?

Calling 140 lets one hear Trevor's voice giving a whole bunch of options that do not include anything related to reporting a fault.

I have not found a dedicated data number (e.g. like Vodacom's 155)

Submitting a report via the website leads to an automated response and then nothing. That was a week ago.

So how does one effectively find someone to speak to within Cell C that can provide an answer can satisfy a techie that is more than some scripted response from someone used to telling a customer how to turn their phone on?

Sup, when you phone 140 wait a few seconds, then press 8 (I think its 8). They have a silent option which puts you through to a tech support or the call center can't again remember which one it is. If button 8 doesnt work try 6 or 7 or 9 :p anyways it's one of the numbers not listed in the menu.

I tried the online support thing about a month ago and nobody ever contacted me back. I had very bad signal in the Sandton area so I was forced to port my number to Vodacom.

Thanks Decotey. Will try next time.

Seems like the problem I had has been resolved as my connection has been stable so far tonight. Perhaps Telltrevor.co.za does work though I have had no feedback.

Phone 084 140 (free form cell c number).

Press option 1 for english.

Than Press option 9 which puts you through to Customer care person (someone who is alive)

Request to be transferred to technical support as you have a problem with the data bundle.

The technical support can phone you back on another number if you using the data bundle sim to phone them.

This worked for me before so....

Edit: Tell trevor is I think customer service improvemnet mechanism. For a true customer service query e-mail custserv.cellc.co.za

I've just fired off a mail to customer care.

From 5mbps down / 2mbps up and low pings for a week ... To EDGE tonight which seems unusable

My guess: Dolby lives on the coast. The sudden influx of 9 million or so Gautengers has caused tower congestion.
If Dolby lives in-land, then I blame the weather.

LOL - after the Vodacom engineer came to my place, BIS has started working again. So my 4 months of hell has stopped ;)

As for the Vodacom 3G signal - its pretty much stable now ... Albeit it not quick at all. Still changed between technologies

And Cell C? This morning back on and working ;) That's what I like about Cell C - things get FIXED!

If something breaks on Vodacom, your contract is useless and you're stuck to paying thousands a year until its over.

So why have you not posted back in the myriad of threads you started that it's fixed?

Hooray

Someone from Cell C technical phoned this morning to confirm all is working again. It took a few days but at least all is resolved. Must have come via the Tell Trevor route as it was the only place I managed to leave any details.

I think we should ban him from trying out any technology that we use, because he always breaks it! ;-)

Why would I do that?

It's only fair that if you complain about a service on a public forum you take the time to report back on the outcome. Be it positive or negative. Otherwise all we have is your side of the story with no resolution.
