I took out a 36 month contract (MyMeg500 and netbook) for the reason I could browse downstairs without needing to walk upstairs to the PC.

Things were fantastic - but over the past 8 months the network had made it impossible. My BIS is down daily, I get no data/BIS signal downstairs and upstairs I got highly erratic 500kbps/20kbps speeds.

So I can my adhoc 2GB which is no issue and decide to can the remainder of my 36 month contract - just the data part. I'm more than happy to pay the money for the laptop until the contract ends.

But Vodacom won't let me :/ Why?

I think its unfair that I can't do anything with the data (accumulates and falls away) because of THEIR network - and yet I can't get past the data part ...

i don't quite understand your query , especially the middle part?

mmm VD I think he wants to basically just pay for the laptop....and not for the data due to signal and thruput deteriation?

+1

Yea - basically the signal has degraded to such an extent my data that I got with the laptop, is no longer used.

The call centre can give a seperate figure for what I'm paying for the laptop and data - so I thought they could just drop the data part? The guy told me he can lower it, but it drops from R190.00 to R120.00. I'd rather use that R190.00 to get something else.

And have you reported the problem to 082155. Did they log a call for you to network? Perhaps VD can have a look on your number with the ref and see what is being done about it?

If you did log a SR then send me the REF or phone number that it was logged on and i will certainly follow up

I sent a mail to customer car on the 13th and received a confirmation that it had been received - no reference though.

Of interest, I tried running a speed.vodacom again and - although Mobile Parter reflect full HSDPA signal, I got a pink of 268ms, download of 124kbps and upload of 115kbps.

So seems over the past few months I've got from 2+mbps, to 1mbps, to 800kbps, to 500 and now sittinhg at less than 128kbps ... :/

Whoa! Must have been drunk when I wrote this ... no wonder people battled to understand ;)

LOL ...

I see my confirmation actually asked to resend te query :/ So I'm going to resend today and see what happens.

Vodacom and oceloux - am I wasting my time though? Is there a chance they could delete my data portion, leaving only my laptop portion?

I very much doubt that Dolby. I dont mean to be negative...but merely realistic. You are bound by contract to this deal. As per the above quotes, have you logged a fault with 082155 and sent the ref to VD so he can have a look as to why your service has deteriated so much?

I mailed customercare as I don't have 30 minutes to wait for a phone call.

I received a reply which I assumed was a confrimation of receipt, but on inspection today I see it says :

Yebo Valued Vodacom Customer!

Thank you for your e-mail. This is an automated response to confirm receipt of your email.
Kindly re-submit your e-mail to [email protected] and supply us with the cell phone number related to this query in order for a consultant to assist you. Please do not reply to this e-mail.

Vodacom Customer Care

Whlie I do understand contracts and being bound to them, I'm not receiving a service and haven't for a large portion of the contract. This is no fault of mine and I've paid month after month after momnth without fail. If Vodacom could provide the service agreed to initially - we'd have no issue.

I'm not even asking for the 14.4 they claim, or 7.2 or even 3.6. A decent 512kbps with even a trickle of an upload would suffice.

I will resubmit to customer care
