Hey ever1

Wondering if there's some 'master' that can explain to me how iBurst connect abroad. Do they use SAIX or something like that? Isn't Iburst like a middleman and their costs are controlled by the aforementioned? If Telscum lowered their prices, did SAIX lower their prices? If SAIX lowered their prices, would all the isp's be able to lower prices?

Thanks already for any explanation

Not SAIX as far as I know.. sattelites and UUNET account.

So SAIX wont effect them, but if its cheaper maby they could switch to them? Also UUNET pricing might be able to go down if SAIX pricing goes down, so it could happen that a SAIX decrease = a Iburst decrease. But then its even more likley that the Iburst bosses will take that a s a extra profit bonus, because what we dont know wont hurt us right?

They can keep the subscription the same... Give us 2mbps and bigger cap! :)

Dankie EkHaatVensters

saix IS Telkom.

ibust uses Verizon Business (ex-UUNET) if u make a simple tracert.

Didn't think of that. :p But then again, i can make a simple tracert. It's understanding what I'm getting that isn't simple to me.

Nice to hear Iburst is independant (it seems). Who knows who their shareholders are? I think a while back that Vodacom was 50% owned by Telscum...

They are a BEE company for a start...

But some company (im shure someone here remembers who..) bought alot of shares in Iburst a while back, it gave a huge capital injection or just decided to start spending money and they did all of those upgrades and startup cost reductions.

But they are totally independant, no Vodacom that owns 50% of them or anything.

Doesn't Telkom still own 50% of vodacom? Or did Vodafone buy the other half too?
