How does rapidshare work

I've been on rapidshare.com but its not exactly helpful.

do you HAVE to purchase an account, or can you download stuff with a free account?

any help will be much appreciated
 
It's just a big "repository" where people can upload and download files. There's many such services, rapidshare just happens to be very popular [so you will find anything on there].

You can download files with a free account, but they limit your speed and amount you can download. Quite often you will get all kinds of issues on a free account, usually it will be something like "download limit exceeded" etc.

If you buy an account, you can obviously download unrestricted, and also upload.

thanks... is there some way to search for stuff that has been uploaded? and a download manager like utorrent?
 
How can one buy an account with your credit card. Do you click on the reseller option or the Paypal option? The Reseller option is so confusing.

You need to choose the PAYPAL option...make sure you have a paypal account, else just create a paypal account first

Searching for stuff...warez sites....download manager....I advise IDM...excellent manager

a good site is warez-bb.org

I've found all the stuff i need using google, just add "rapidshare" to your search query. There are a few rapidshare specific engines out there, but alot of people post their file links on forums like these and only google seem to picks those up.
 
tip ... when you reach your limit for free download, disconect your internet connection, redial - new ip is assigned to u, continue downloading ... repeat if necessary.
 
thanks guys. i've purchased a premium account and have queued some stuff to download tonight @ 4mbs on my uncapped line. :)


I had a look @ IDM, but its not really friendly for pasting in a bunch of RS links. i have to add them one by one which is painful

If you're using Firefox, there's some nifty addons , specifically for Rapidshare.
Get the one called "Unofficial Rapidshare Tool" on Mozilla's Addon page.

It has a few nifty things to grab & validate rapidshare links on any given page and get it into whatever downloader you want.

Also, go into your rapidshare account settings and tweak them so you don't need to go to the actual rapidshare website to download. [Yes there's a setting that will initiate the download directly from the page you found the link].

You need to do that if you want to paste all the links into a downloader.
 
For some reason Telkom accounts don't like Rapidshare. If you buy an Axxess voucher suddenly things look better. Something to do with shared IP addresses.
 
ok - so i've got a premium rapidshare account. I'm trying to download something. Lets take Sims3 for example (http://www.warez-bb.org/viewtopic.php?t=2609964)

I copy all the links, load up getright and paste them. enter my login u/p and away we go.

But only 1/3 of the files seem to work. about 10 of them are 200mb. The rest are all 13k.

BUT - if i manually enter the URL in my browser, it downloads a 200mb file.

what gives...
 
never mind.... seems reget is the problem. it works waay better with IDM

I would like to purchase a 1year rapidshare account.
I do not the credit card or debit card fecelities.

So i would to know if you can buy me one and i will deposit the money into your account first then then you can buy the account for me.

how do i download more?. I've converted my traffic share and rapid points, but what do i do when that is up?

Telkom accounts are painful. A number of the forums that I use say that my IP address has been blocked and therefore I cannot access them. Even when I try to download with Rapidshare it says that I am already downloading something when I am not.

Does anybody else have these problems and is there any way to fix it?

is trafficshare GB directly converted to download GB, or is there a conversion ratio?

so if i buy 100gb traffic share, will i be able to download 100gb?
