ok well this isn't to shoot down anyone or to blame anyone for anything and it doesn't even concern telkom. it's a mear comparison between what the american's are paying for this same service over there (not taking into account the cost of bandwidth difference and stuff).

basically for the residential user who has a connection of 18 x 28k speeds therefore around 512k pays $50.

the cost of the same modem it seems that we are using is $99 around R750 on a special they have but it varies in another package it is double that at $199 around R1500 but you have to sign a 1 year agreement.

activation seems to be a must its $99 R750 which is more than what we are asked to pay.

o well just an indication of how we relate. not to bad except the price of the modem ;/ R5k is a bit much for any modem but maybe theres a good reason behind it
