Hi all..

Well formatted my computer and got steam on again..just replacing the steamapps

Works fine..but updates are running on all..

I have a 4mb line(360-420kbps download speed) but steam seems to do 400-800kbps?how is this possible ? :)

it averages on 570kbps?Don't get me wrong im loving it..just wondering how this is happening on a 4mb line

Simple: it's not. Steam's bandwidth usage/speed ratings are crap. I struck something like 90MB/s the other day on my 8mbit line.

It could be that it's values are just bogus.

Or it could be that it uses compression and shows the speed of decompressed data while downloading compressed data...

I have a 2mb line with 1mb uncapped Mweb, and when downloading it sometimes goes up to 500kbps, which is ridiculous.

Steam generally used the line to its full potential though.

Another case of confusing your bits and your bytes...

Has anyone noticed when downloading through origin the speeds are almost double consistently, or is it just me.

Sorry off topic...why pay for a 2mb line and 1mb uncapped?why not get you're line down to a 1mb line and pay less?

That's actually a good point. It was a 1mb then Telkom upgraded and I didn't even think about downgrading, I will now I suppose. :o

I do sometimes get over 100kbps download speeds though and can download and get good latency, while with a 1mb line I couldn't.
