My Telkom line (DSL enabled) has a monthly limit set of R800. Yesterday I get an sms to say I have exceeded that amount and must make a payment by the 21st. I happily pay the amount immedialtey. I wake up this morning to find my account has been suspended (cant make calls or use the internet). Had to call with proof of payment to get it reconnected. Last time I went over that amount (got an sms) I simply paid the amount I owed and carried on no problem. What is the procedure here with this account limit? Why do I get suspended immedialty and will they charge me now to get re-connected? Apparently its a suspension not a complete disconnect.

I assume it depends where the account was paid. If you paid directly at a telkom branch they shouldn't of suspended the account, but if you paid through a 3rd part (easypay, Pick n Pay etc) the payment probably reflects after a later time and not immediately.

Also if you paid via eft from a different bank it might take time ti reflect on their side.

They won't charge you, as soon as they have payment they'll reconnect.
You can change the account limit.
