A person ask me, when you look at the sea, how far can you see. It's obvious that if you go higher you can see further. How far can ships see a lighthouse . Is there a formula or tabel to find out.

Ask a Captain of a large shipping vessel. I was at the naval port in Simmons town and a captain explained it. There is a fixed table according to visibility they use.

Doubt you'll get anything more than an estimation. It's dependant on the curvature of the earth, and the other the earth not being an exact sphere and all the other external factors, accuracy will be an issue.This is what I want
