This is amazing.

For the last 2 days my VC broadband is @#@$#

I've logged a call with VC which in fact wasn't logged and had to log a 2nd call(Even though I had a ref #.
The nature of the problem is speeds of:
43 kbps d/l
58 kbps u/l

And an average ping of +- 4000ms latency.

Considering I have 5 bars signal and connecting on HSDPA, this is terrible!

This seriously inhibits me from dialling in to my company as I'm on standby.
VC might try to have data specialists on standby for a change.
Waiting 48 hours isn't good enough to get the problem fixed. I'm paying for the service and demand the fullfillment of the service.

On the up side, I'm waiting for my ADSL to be connected and then I won't have to be at the mercy of one company.

If VC don't come to the party I'll truly leave their customer base.
Other customers might accept bad service, but I don't.

I get that d/l with a 384 DSL connection! Must suck for you!
PS your heading makes it sound like you are referring to the my broadband website/forum

I feel your pain. Normaly I get 600Kbps - 1Mbps but for the last 2 days it has been atrocious - < 64kbps. If the b@5t@rd5 hadn't stoeln my phone cable I might consider resorting to ISDN.....

If you "b@5t@rd5" start posting proper location information, I can maybe try and help..... ;)

In all reality, if you don't give clear indication of symptoms, locations, settings, etc. your post is just a rant, you have to agree?

Thanks vodacom3g, but I'll just wait. It's just very frustrating being tied down by 1 service provider.

I don't suppose you're in Fourways/Dianfern?

Ok, no problem. But just to make sure I understand: You're getting crap throughput and when I offer to help you rather not want help but rather will wait for ADSL?

Not really. I'm relying on VC to correct the problem but have realised giving myself a hernia isn't worth it. I'm not on standby this week. haha

Regarding the ADSL, I will still be getting it. Just waiting on Telkom. The main reason for ADSL is FPS online gaming where i don't have "standard" 200ms
latency which is "part of the technology". I'll have the best of both for different reasons.

OK, as long as you realise I can't do much without any info.

Hi Vodacom3g We are having the very same problem on the Lower south coast KZN Uvongo area i have been in touch with Mr B from KZN radio planning they are apparently working on a defective cell in the snt Michaels area, we are dropping calls left right and center, could this also be to blame for the slow internet connections in our area on 3g/HSDPA?

Could be, but ask Big, Bad, Butchy Mr. B maybe. He would be the right person to confirm.

Fast???

You're right, it was just a rant, as normally these things seem to "sort themselves out". I know that isn't really what happens, but my experience has been that service improves without having to log a call.
Ordinarily I am a great advocate of VC wireless, and have recommended to many of my neighbours that they switch to wireless of some sort, even gone so far as telling them how I achieved great throughput with my antenna. (Possibly cutting my own throat by telling them, as "my" available bandwidth is now being utilised by more than just me, but I cannot be selfish - thankfully population density here is very low)

However, it is now Wednesday night and things don't seem any better than they did at the weekend.

For the record : I believe I am connected to the Laezonia base station (as recommended by a chap from engineering who consulted his GIS, and also as derived from my own experimentation). Using an external dipole antenna pointed primarily in that direction. (I have tried pointing at Lanseria but that is even worse). Last night my signal dropped and I was unable, over a half hour of trying, to even reconnect - just got "acquiring" and nothing more....

Symptoms .... extreme slowness (tonight in the 4-8 KBps range), frequent disconnects (ordinarily I can stay connected for hours at a time, now I have to reconnect 2 or 3 times an hour), connection (as reported by the router) fluctuates between fair (which really means cr@p) and good - I usually have good to excellent.

No changes made to any hardware on software on my side, and from speaking with colleagues living in other areas (e.g. Randjiesfontein, Fourways etc) I am not alone in experiencing degraded throughput.

The upside of course is that I cannot spend all night on Facebook, or play any games, as it is just too frustrating, so I may actually get a decent nights sleep.:D
