How fit are you?

I really want to try boxing but worried about blows to the head :o

Don't worry, not everyone competes, 90% just do the training, and the atmosphere is electric, builds confidence, and is also a great way to meet women (just saying), as more women are actually into the training than guys. Its slowly becoming more mainstream in this country. I will be opening my own boxing gym in PTA soon. It will be very different than the norm.

Find a boxing gym, get a good trainer and you'r all set. Nothing has changed my life more than boxing. After 2 weeks I quit smoking, after 2 months I quit drinking, Iv dropped 13kg and competing in amateur competition.

Life is great

then again I don't have family responsibilities which eats away at training time. Although I spend an hour in the kitchen preparing meals every night.
Yeah, too many punches to the head can mess with your brain.

"the greatest reward in boxing, is that it makes you a better person, not a better fighter"

I weigh 57 kg's so you can see my ribs and you can see my abs. I've always been this skinny, but my dad weighs 120 kg's and he's like 6'4 while I am 5'8. So there might be hope for em still >.<

I am unfit. I blame my car and motorcycle.
I used to walk 19 kilometers from school just to bunk and play World of Warcraft. Sometimes as often as 4 times a week.

All the way from Parow Noord to Bothasig

now i have transport and i dont walk ever.

Agree with Astro. Any martial arts for that matter - the mantra is basically the same: Eat clean, look lean, train mean. Its a great way to live.

PS you can still do the drinking thing and the occasional smoke.

got a taste of how unfit i am today. pretty angry with myself. might have to buy a gadsby to get some comfort..

Thats not 19km. :p I cycle from Parow to West Beach, thats 19km.

I walked in circles.

I went through goodwood, monte vista, down edgemead all the way to laerskool wolraad to pick up my gf.

it took me 2 hours and 20 minutes
