Hi, we have been thinking about moving our line to afrihost for a while but thought it may cause problems so just left it with telkom. However our line has been down for 9 days and after having phoned 10210 almost everyday, we get the same bull**** response that they will remind them and that nobody has been assigned to our fault yet. Went to a direct shop to complain and all they do is phone them for you and we got the fault escalated..... Still waiting.Anyway just wanted to know from anybody who has their line with afrihost how fast things get resolved. Thanks

Exactly the same except they do the phoning for you. No preferential treatment.

this is not 100% true. Afrihost do have access to see what state your ADSL port is in and have access to reset it as well. if that doesn't fix it then yup they in a queue just like the rest of us. but they do have a more transparency into telkom then we do.

Don't move your line to an ISP, their SLA's with Telkom is much higher if you deal direct with Telkom. I had to wait the full 21 days before I got upgraded. Whereas with Telkom it was near instant

This is not always the case.

I have found that certain ISPs - the response time is very quick. Sometimes they can do stuff on your line while you are on the phone with them.

... which the Telkom call centre also does. This appears to be a cable or infrastructure issue hence my reply.

Yep ... yet to see an ISP employee replacing 1km of stolen cable or climbing a pole to sort out bad connections.

also using the ADSL SMS fault reporting (sms your ADSL line number, eg:0112345678, to 0123210212) generates a port reset and a fault reference faster than going through the call centre.

They finally came round and fixed it. Seems getting an escalation is the best way.

We do our very best to do all the heavy lifting with Telkom on your behalf. With persistent or intermittent faults, it's difficult to pin down and resolve, especially as we are working via Telkom, but we keep putting pressure on them and following up until we get a solution for you. I've had some other clients put us to the challenge here on MyBB, and I'm happy to say we managed to to resolve the problem!

Afriman , as we speak i am on hold ( caller number 6 ) on your call centre , my line has been down since Tuesday and i have stil not had any feedback from you or telkom .Not a happy camper at the moment

You'll need to PM me so I can look into the details.
