How green is your PC?

I don't know how much I would like a green PC, I think the beige/silver/white/black colour schemes are quite well suited to computers. :p

But hey, each to his own ;)

 :D

My comp uses that ASUS Six-Engine feature which lowers the voltage/frequencies of devices or turns them off when they're not in use to save a bit of power. I don't allow to turn off devices though, just allow it to modulate voltage/frequencies.

According to it, since 25 July, I've reduced my CO2 emissions by 1635.604g ;) Not a lot, but it's something, I suppose ^.^

most people don't care or they just turn stuff off to save.

I fail to see how they can claim that a PC is so power-hungry. I am of the belief that maybe in the days of XTs with ST-506 hard drives they might have had a point, but generally, everything has been following the low power trend.

What they always fail to mention, and what I suspect they're trying to get at but they don't quite understand, is the fact that the PC power supply is a very nonlinear load, and generates harmonics on the mains and contributes to poor power factor. Many PC's are still being sold without power factor correction.

That is the point ... lower your footprint ... even by a small amount ... if everyone [in the world] saves putting on one light a night, the savings are hugh ... it is a collective effort!!
