How hot does a scooter exhaust get ?

I have a 110cc 2 stroke kymco scooter and my exhaust broke clean off a few cm from the engine right on the turn. I tried to get another front part to the pipe but have had no luck so far, I was told i have to buy a complete new exhaust which costs around R900.... I bought the whole bike for R2000 so i am not prepared to spend R900 on just the exhaust.

I went out and bought some Faststeel poxy ( plastic steel ) and moulded it around the break, the stuff gets rock hard and ive allowed it to set for a day, I have not yet driven the scooter, i want to leave it a while longer to let it properly set. the poxy i used is this one : http://www.polymericsystems.com/epoxies-adhesives/epoxy-putty-sticks/faststeel.htm

It says on the packet that it can sustain heat up to 149 degrees... My question is how hot does the front part of the exhaust pipe get on a 110cc 2stroke scooter, does anyone know ?

I know bigger bikes get pretty damn hot, but no idea if the same holds for scooter. I am curious if this steel will hold, I bought a second packet incase i need to patch it down the road again sometime.
 
Can you weld on that part of the exhaust ? , that metal seems so thin i can almost bend it with my fingers, not to mention its so close to the engine and would be extremely difficult to weld there ...
 
Why don't you take the bike to a silencer shop. They should be able to weld it back together again. They shouldn't charge you more than R50.
 
Ill see how long it lasts and if it doesnt ill take it to a exhaust place and see if they cant make a plan. I was just cusrious how hot the exhaust of a 110cc 2 stroke scooter gets ...
 
Q-Bond with the metal powder should withstand temperatures close to 200C but a weld would probably be your best bet if possible.
 
I've seen bike exhaust manifolds glowing red. That's anything from 500 degrees C upward. I think the epoxy job will fail rapidly.
 
if you were able to seal it the way you have, it's possible to weld the exhaust..go do that, the exhaust gets really hot.
