How long before you hit the cap ?

or is it only this months extra bandwidth purchaces that are effected by excessive 64k downloads

OK heres another problem I have, I bought more bandwith on friday (April 1st) then by friday night they reset the counters, will I see anythign about that extra bandwith I bought on my statement at the end of the month? because I never even got to use it

and its one thing for shaun to come here and communicate with all the users at myadsl, however what if I had never foudn out about myadsl, how am I supposed to know this stuff?

This information will all be mailed to the clients and all the CC staff informed.

Why agravate you. Let me rather inform you.

Keep as many people informed and there will be less unhappy clients.

Keep Cool All

Shaun

This is very disturbing...the system should have been ready at launch date...if any extra charges comes out of this fiasco I must also consider a cancellation. WBS please get your act together.

Thank you Shaun....BUT...If this is true you guys are in for one major riot!!! Most of us are allready upset about the shaping and not having unlimitted local. If WBS dare's to do this to us, i swear that we will make you feel it. I WILL be canceling our contract next week if this is true. I am allready looking like an idiot for suggesting iBurst as a viable option to a small business.

I have been happy with the quality of service so far, i personally think customer service has allways been very friendly! I have enjoyed the great speeds, never had down times longer than 5min, and have felt th R699 to be worth it. I must say I got very angry to see that our local browsing will be capped, but i just though to myself 'at least its faster than dial-up, and permanent'. But this totally get's to me and I swear if this is true you will loose my company's support. Imagine what type of a fool i will look like trying to explain this to the directors!

You know what if this is true....its just not worth it!

so if you have already downloaded 7GB on a 3GB account, and dont purchase more bandwidth, you'll be on 64k for the next 2months???

WTF. That's some serious $hit right there. Shaun, we need feedback before the end of the day.

Can a contract be cancelled?

it can if either party was not conforming to the points stipulated in the contract

Noone,

I have just discovered this issue - I can unfortunately only investigate tomorrow - but I wanted you all the be aware of this problem

Shaun
Hi Shaun

Firstly let me thank you for your posts in this thread (as well as other recent posts), the post above as well as the one prior about the 2GB deficit issue are exactly what we forumites want from WBS, i.e. keep us informed and in the loop :).

To all iBursters, let's not get too uptight about this issue, it most certainly has to be a design problem within the WBS bandwidth management system, and we all had our doubts about the system since we had not seen it working during pre-launch.

It is a glitch, let WBS investigate it and fix it before strapping WBS to a braai grill.

PS: I was out getting plastered last night & was not around to read any posts - in case anyone was wondering.

Methinks we need to let WBS know how we would like this cap to work, from a point of view of being fair & just from both sides - we can debate not having a cap at all but that is likely to be wasted energy & from WBS' POV not fair.

So, put yourselves in WBS' shoes - if you were implementing this bandwidth cap & management system, how would you do it, what would be a reasonable and fair way of doing it?

I will post my thoughts when I have had a chance to think them...:D

i think thats pretty much what we've done already, they MUST carry over any extra bandwith bought on top of the normal monthly allocation (3GB or whatever) and ideally carry over all unused bandwith, although I doubt that will happen.

Then they need to either cap as I hit my limit (3GB) or they need to not deduct the amount I go over my limit from my next purchase of Gbs. They also need to provide the appropriate warnings on thier own website where you buy the banwith so I know what to expect, theres no point in them expecting every iBurst user to find this thread so they need to stick it in thier FAQ so that potential subscribers and current subscribers know exactly what to expect.

I am really bothered by this. This is a serious ****up. How can WBS screw this up so badly. I am happy with the speeds I am getting but OMG I am not gonna phone them and complain about lost bandwidth. Lifes to short. I'll just cancel my contract.
SO WBS,,, please get your act together.

I'm glad I have only used 50mb of my cap so far :p

I agree that there are a lot of ideas posted across different threads about how the cap should work, I meant we should collect & distill that info into single posts - so that it is all in one thread & each forumite's ideas are a 1 comprehensive post each, obviously with evolutionary ideas forming in the posts inbetween.

Call it a mini functional spec approach that the folks @ WBS can follow easily.

Now is the ideal time to put our noggins into action - the existing cap & bandwidth management system is not yet set in concrete, but it is starting to set...

so you're saying we must figure this stuff out for them? It's not exactly rocket science, I think they know what they need to do to firstly keep customers and then later keep customers satisfied.

As for the 'concrete is starting to set', I agree, some of thier policies will be made permanent as they see what they can/can't do and can/can't afford however the issue of not carrying over extra bandwith I pay for is not an option. I will not allow anyone to steal from me in broad daylight and when I joined iBurst I was never told anything about this. I'm not asking them to change it, I'm telling them.

We don't run WBS so it seems futile to post our specs for the cap like they're actually going to read it and change somethign in thier company, especially since we are only a minority of the total iBurst users. Maybe I'm just a pecimist
