How long does FNB's Paypal "Topup" take?

I bought 2 items on eBay and apparently if you don't pay within 4 days, the seller may open an unpaid item case.

What i'm worried about is this:
unpaid items on a buyer's account may result in range of actions, including limits or loss of buying privileges.

I topped up my Paypal via the FNB website, and it said it may take up to 4 business days...
Now, luckily I bought on a monday and not on a weekend (Yeah fnb, luckily - else I would really have been totally screwed) but I would rather not cut it so close


has anyone received their Paypal Topup before 4 days? How long does this usually take? :confused:
 
Don't stress, it should be within 3 days.

Also just let the seller know when to expect the money and all will be good :)

I told him "it should take around 24-48 hours for it to reflect in my paypal account" so I hope I get lucky.

Eish, this really sucks. Is FNB causing me this k@k by trying to cash in with favorable $/R conversion rates?
Don't they already get their cut with their (A) already inflated exchange rate and (B) 1.5% Commission of the final total?

I understand they want to make money with exchange rates too but is it really worth scraping the bottom of the barrel while pissing off your customers?
I mean, I now have to wait up to 4 days because they *might* skim off a few extra rands do to small fluctuations in the dollar.

Imagine If I bought on a friday, and had to wait 4 business days... that would have meant I could lose my eBay buying privileges, on my first purchase!



I love you FNB but this is insane - do you really think upsetting your customers over a "possible" extra R5 or so is worth it?

Edit: They should make an option where you can pay an additional 1% fee and get it over with, so it reflects into paypal ASAP.
surely they can't make more than 1% due to fluctuations in 4 days? (And then it will also be guaranteed to them, not only a possible gain, or worse, a loss)

My question is, why is FNB the only bank in South Africa that is linked to PayPal :wtf:
Do I really have to open a FNB cheaque account to gain access to the PayPal facility -- that's right, having an FNB credit card isn't enough, you also need to have a cheaque account.

Not too shabby I suppose - PayPal was topped up in less than 24 hours.
I topped up at around 7:00 this morning, it reflected in Paypal at 21:00.

@empirex - to be fair though, you can't blame FNB because they are the only ones who support PayPal.... that's like blaming Spur for being the only restaurant with onion rings.

I phoned up my bank asking.... they never mentioned that...

Smart account with no monthly fees should also enable you to use this facility ;)

No need for some special expensive cheque account.

Thanks will try that. I opened a credit card account specifically to use the PayPal service, then I find out that I need a cheaque account as well :rolleyes: -- maybe I was misinformed. Thanks for the heads up, will take a look again..
 
I have a plain savings account with FNB just for PayPal. No fees if the balance is over R2000.
 
all i did was open a basic cheque account and got a cheque card with it (works like a credit card) and buy stuff like that. also get ebucks like that

Just got an e-mail from FNB:
FNB PayPal Top Up service improved, you can now pay for purchases online or send money overseas within the hour. FNB account holders can now enjoy the benefit of having your funds available in your PayPal account within an hour of you doing a Top up transaction. This service will be available on FNB Online Banking 24/7, including weekends and public holidays.

Sorry for late reply, it did indeed :), was completed at 10:15am

Topped-up at 00:22am Tuesday and completed at above time so about 10hrs 03mins :D

FNB FTW!! & Keeper FTW!!!! :p
