How long does it take you to drive to work?

Using Gautrain from Hatfield to Midrand

Takes about 1,5 hours from Home to Work and the same the other way around.

Actual train trip is 20 minutes - the rest is for getting to the station by car and using Gautrain Busses to work and back to the station.

I spend 2 - 2.5 hours in the car in the morning to get to work. I have to pick someone up and it's quite a detour. She does pay for my petrol though so I don't complain.

How long does it take you to drive to work?

If you travel by bus, train, Uber, etc, how long does your entire trip take you from home to work?

From South of JHB to Sandton vice versa.

To work: 2 hours
To home: 1,5 hours

Car - 35 - 40 minutes each way- more if there's obstructions (accidents) or when it's raining.

Train - 20 minutes walk from home to station, 45 minutes train ride (if there are no delays/cancellations), 10 minutes walk from station to home.

The home-station can be cut down to between 5 to 10 minutes if using MyCiti bus or Uber.

3.5 hours per day = 210 minutes per day = 4200 minutes per month (20 work days) = 50400 minutes per year = 1.14 months of the year you spend travelling.
So take a calendar and trow one of the months in the bin, because you are wasting that just getting to work.

forgot to mention, it is a 36 Km trip

By car:
To work (Northriding to Krugersdorp = 40min, 28km)
Back home (Krugersdorp to Northriding = 40min, 28km)

46min each way that is 46km. And thats on my motorbike. Would hate to know how long cars take Somerset West to Cape Town everyday.

It depends if I drive in peak time or not.

If I leave home at 5:45, my drive to work is 1h (best case) to 1h 30m (worst case).
I then leave work at 15:45 and get home in 1h 15m (best case) to 2h (worst case).

If I leave home at 7:00, my drive to work is 2h (best case) to 2h 30m (worst case).
I then leave work at 17:30 and get home in 1h 30m (best case) to 2h (worst case).

To make matters worse, I am unable to take public transport, as it will require three switchovers and result in longer, more expensive traveling time, excluding parking.

I use to have to drive 55km to and from work.

I would get up at 4:45 AM and be at work by 5:45AM. The actual drive time would be ~45 mins.
From work I would leave at 14:45PM (to skip traffic ofc ;)), the drive home would be anywhere from 45 mins to an hour and 30 mins, depending on the traffic.

If I took the Gautrain and busses, the time it takes to commute to work would be around 1 hour 20 mins, and back anything from 1 hour 30 mins, to 2 hours 10 mins.

Now I have a new job and I walk to work ;)
