I am sure this must have been posted before... but i have tried to apply for a telkom line and nobody ever gets back to me. I first tried to get a full install and that didnt work, so a mate said i should get a normal telkom line first then get it upgraded. I apllied for the line about a month ago and they still cant even give me an install date

It all depends where you are situated and the nearest DSLAM(line attenuation and snr ratio) but they should have told you if there is no internet coverage in your region over the phone.

if i were you i would phone(i know this is @#$! i waited yesterday for service for an hour but at least you don't pay for the call) them again notify them that you have been waiting know for a month and ask them if you have coverage.

sorry, did I say 4 months. I meant 5 months. And they also charged me double for ISDN and ADSL during that 5 month period even though they had managed to disconnect my IDSN.

I did try to call them this morning, and the coverage should be fine i stay in cambridge east london which is a residential area and not a small one. When i called all they said to me is that they will try escalate the call but still can't give me any idea as to when i can expect them to install ?

I know it sounds like a long shot but have you tried going into one of the telkom stores and doing it there, that way you have face to face contact and they can't brush you aside cause you're standing right there in front of them, its a bit irritating having to get there but if you're desperate it might be your best option.

I applied for phone & ADSL on the 20th, installed both on the 25th.

Ok now im just depressed i just went into telkom and they say the line that i applied for over a month ago is busy with a project something about enlarging the cable and they can only give me an install date in 30 - 40 days and then most prob another month before that date! telskum can give me kop :|

you know this might be a good thing for you as they MiGhT install a ADSL2+ DSLAM in your area which can as i understand and if applied for connect at 8mbs
well i hope for you that is the case
