How long to get a line installed?

Have to start the ADSL route somewhere, I need to get a telephone line installed in my place. I stay on the 3rd floor of a block of flats and there's an exchange at the bottom of my road. How long do you rekon its going to take?

Depends on your area. Sometimes it is a matter of days. Sometimes many weeks.
Why not Sentch MyWireless by the way?

Sentech works out more expensive and I'd like to play games online.

MyWireless : R499
Not really more expensive. But not sure how it is for games. Cant imagine it would be too bad

Well i'm out in a small town and it took them 23 days from date of order to install my normal telephone line.

Your excluding the modem costs as well, I can get an ADSL router for free

Hope you are not talking about signing the 24-month contract with Telkom!

It took me around 1 month to get ADSL Line installed. I would say Telkom is not too bad, though you need to sign the 24 months contract, now they provide Wi-Fi Router support up to 8 connections. For a small office, it should be a rather cost efficient solution.

ADSL installation times

SO I read all this praising replies where telkom installed a line in 23 days and one month.

I'm sitting now in my 6th week without even an installation date.............

23 days is far from praising...

This was after waiting for a couple months for them to install ADSL which never happened.

Whats strange is they gave me an instillation date at the time i placed my order(sure they couldnt keep the date but still gave me a date)
