Hi Guys

When upgrading from a 1Mbps to a 4Mbps line, do Telkom have to make any physical changes? Roughly how long does it take from application to completion? I'm trying to see if it's worthwhile upgrading when I will be moving in the next couple months.

Extra Info : If I check my router it says max sync is 10Mbps, not sure if that is relevant but included it anyway.

Usually can be done while you're on the phone with them.

Ok, thanks guys. Going to give them a call now.

Why don't companies make this an option on their websites? I hate calling in (as I'm sure we all do). Try and do as much online as possible.

they just press a button or 2 , normally instant , your line will desync when they press that magic button :p

let us know what kind of service you get ... how long and how painfull?

lol... ok, call made. 08:12 long. Agent states it will take between 48 hours and 7 days. I'll update when it has been done.

Now to phone MWeb and get that side upgraded.

Just noticed that now on the MWeb site. They do it within 30 minutes, so will wait till the Telkom side is complete.

And just to be sure, I should go for the 4Mbps Uncapped Premium for R539 a month. I have seen on the forum the "normal" account is a PITA.

Honestly, I've always had great service from MWeb so I have had no reason to shop around. I see Afrihost is about R100 cheaper though. Maybe I will take a look.

Well just a quick update. By the time I arrived home at 17:00 everything was upgraded already. Line is running great. Should have done this ages ago.
