how long did it take you to upgrade your line speed. mine is still not changed and its been 2 days so far

It shouldn't take long. Requested it and it was done. If not, then check up to make sure they really put it through.

I just made a phone call and the lady changed it while we spoke.

Secure Lock protects your bandwidth against theft

Thousands of Telkom employees are also TelkomInternet customers. For their benefit, E-news reports on some of the recent enhancements that TelkomInternet has been introducing.
*
Unwary internet users can be an easy target for bandwidth thieves, whose tactics are becoming more and more sophisticated.
*
“There are many bandwidth scams doing the rounds,” says Jaco van Staden of Internet Service Support. “We constantly hear about people getting hold of customers’ ADSL usernames and passwords. Using another ADSL line, they then use the usernames and passwords to abuse customers’ internet accounts.”
*
Fortunately, TelkomInternet has come up with a watertight way, Secure Lock, to prevent bandwidth fraud and theft. This is a free service.
*
“With Secure Lock, you can lock your user name and password to a specific telephone number so that no one else on another line can use it,” says Jaco.
*
To activate the Secure Lock service, simply call the 10215 helpdesk. The helpdesk agent will verify your identity, ask you for your cellphone number and send you an SMS with a once-off PIN number. You then use this PIN number to activate the locking service.
*
Secure Lock can be used to link your TelkomInternet account to only one telephone number, or up to 10 telephone numbers. For example, you might want to add your DSL line numbers at work and home so that you can use your DSL at your convenience. You might also want to add the DSL line numbers of other places where you spend a lot of time.

Phoned, answered their questions, goodbye.

Three minutes later I was syncing at a much higher speed :p

They said it can take up to 24h. You have a reference number? Phone back, quote the reference number and ask what the status is. If there is a physical upgrade required at the DSLAM/Exchange then they would have to send out a techie, but that's worst case.

its through mweb.

With mweb may take them longer to get telkom to change the speed profile, but if you have telkom as provider it is as quick as changing a setting.

I find that Telkom hates other ISP's and delays it for as long as they like. Maybe they try to irritate the ISP's customers so they come back and use Telkom instead.
