Thanks. This makes me feel a lot better, as I was starting to feel that the dealership just did not care anymore after selling the car to me. From your email then it is clear the issue is probably not at the dealership, but rather the traffic dept. I guess all the public holidays did not help either.
The public holidays certainly haven't helped, and the people who "work" with the files make damned sure that nothing will interfere with their "off" time. There is a massive backlog in some departments, and they really don't give a damn.
Don't worry, you still have a few days to go, and it is actually up to the dealer to see that your car remains licensed, so if you get to the expiry date and they still haven't got it done, firstly ask for an explanation, and if you still don't have a new number, insist on a new temp plate - it costs them 300 a pop, so they should then get a move on.
