I live in an apartment, as much as a pure sinewave inverter and solar panels are the dream, cost and position make this difficult right now.

I know very little about petrol generators except that the produce heat/noise/exhaust gas.

Is it possible to build a silencing box and lead the exhaust out a window? Heat would probably then be a problem.

Idea's?

Carbon monoxide seeping from the enclosure would be a bigger problem.

An inverter (digital) generator could be an option. eg Honda eu10i
You could possibly run it outside on the balcony.

Well obviously the plan would be an air tight box with an outlet stuck outside a window. I guess eventual wear could kill me though

Generator in an apartment? I'd definitely avoid.

If cost is a big issue, why not look at a modified sine wave inverter with a battery (or two) instead? cheaper than the pure sine wave options.

Indoor generator sounds like a great idea in this case, and I'm even willing to come to cpt to build the enclosure for you at no charge!

Its winter and if you put the generator in your bedroom at night you'll sleep like a baby.

Honda make "quiet" camping generators but they're expensive (assuming you can find one atm) and you've still got the problem of exhaust fumes.

the gennie needs fresh air to operate so it cant be in an airtight box
