What about foods containing eggs? Do you not eat cake, or muffins or chocolate mousse or custard and things like that, or is it just eggs in “egg” form you don’t like?

Out of interest, what is your reason for not eating eggs?
Just don't like eggs. The taste, everything. That plus when I was young I sort of had an egg intolerence where I would get sick every time after eating eggs. I guess that's where my hate of eggs comes from.

I have no problem eating food containing eggs though. You don't taste the egg or anything.

I’m currently busy with a research study and need to keep a food diary for a couple of weeks. Something that I picked up on (not particularly surprised about or concerned about though) is how many eggs I eat.

I am not on a keto diet or anything, but do try to focus my eating more towards fats and proteins, so I’m not exactly trying to avoid eggs, but just found it funny how I easily eat 8 eggs a day almost every day, through my various meals, and now it’s considered perfectly good and healthy, but a couple years ago, I remember how everyone was jumping up and down telling us we shouldn’t eat anything more than 2 eggs a day and cholesterol this and fat that and bla bla bla.

3 or 4 a week

Why did you make it per day. Do people eat 42+ eggs a week?

Standalone, between 0 and 4 per week.

The Science

In another couple hundred years The Science will change again and we will be back to eating margarine and smoking ciggys

Don't have the time to make eggs every day (for breakfast / lunch) and they've become expensive too... so while I like eggs, and maybe wish I could have some every day... I can't. Maybe once or twice a week.

I used to eat around 2 to 3 a day but moved and changed diet, I think I maybe eat 3 a month now.

They don’t have eggs where you live now?

Have you noticed any changes to your health with the change in diet?

Eggs are my staple protein. Love them, and eat 3-4 a day. Also affordable compared with other protein sources.

In my household, you dont have to ask me or the kids *if we want eggs, rather ask how many eggs do you want.

Did keto for a while, not really sure what I'm doing now (high protein, low carb I guess?)
I started off with 8 everyday and gradually reduced to 3.

There are eggs but I moved in with my wife's parents after my children joined her in the UK.

Over the last few years I was cooking supper for myself and my family but now I am fed like a teenager, food just appears on my plate.

I was also only eating 1 meal a day since 2023 through the week then whatever I want over weekends till quite recently.

Now I have a Muesli mix I made for myself for breakfast (mix is 3kg various flavour and brand muesli, 750g instant oats, 1kg nuts and 500g chia seeds) and I eat whatever is served for supper.

On occasion an egg is involved in supper or I will make myself some eggs on toast for breakfast over the weekends.

Lots of protein in my breakfast and in my supper so only eat an egg when I feel like one.

Poor unborn chickens... Didn't even make it out the egg and being eaten already..:crying:
no don’t worry, I only eat vegan eggs. The farm I buy from doesn’t have a rooster, so none of the eggs are fertilised, and they only pick them after they have already fallen on the ground. Very ethical eggs these. 🤣
3 or 4 a week

I easily do, especially during high intensity training blocks.

First thing in the morning 2 raw eggs go into my smoothie,

Then usually at least one boiled egg as a mid morning snack, a poached egg or two, or scrambled eggs with lunch, and depending on what’s for dinner, there’s probably an egg or two on my steak or burger, or a couple of eggs worked into the sauce or cake something I eat during the day as well. If dinner was early, I will probably have another smoothie with an egg just before bed.

When in a rest/recovery period, I only have a 6 hour eating window, and then also pack in eggs, as it’s such an easy protein and fat bomb, but probably cut it down to only 3-4 a day in these periods.

Really? Expensive compared to what? You can get reasonably decent eggs (albeit not free range and organic) for around R2.00 a pop. Yes, they will be grain fed so less than perfect, but still a really good protein and fat source, along with all the vitamins.

What else can you eat for R2.00 that gives you the same amount of protein and healthy fat?
