Ok, so I have ADSL, my friends want to come over and play with me on games.saix.net (Battlefield 2)

How many can I invite before problems start to show (lag etc)

4? 5?

We'll be generally playing together on the same server.

I know 2 can work, that's obvious, I was playing BF2 and noticed my line only was doing about 30KB/s.

So I'm guessing, if you do the maths (which I won't) but maybe here someone knew...

Hey man, best way to check is to get a bandwidth meter of some sort and play BF2 then in the mids of heavy action with lots going on onscreen, alt tab to the meter and see what the upload speed is/was. The problem will not be your download speed, but rather your upload speed. on Crysis wars the upload can hit roughly 150-200 kbps which is about 1/3rd the maximum upload speed on a 4 mb line in SA. Every game is different though so you would have to actually check.

Well my brother and I play COD4 together with a 384 line and some times the lag spikes but with other games(CSS,TF2,Hl2DM) there is no lag,However I have heard that BF2 is very bandwidth intensive but can be played with ease on 384.

Taking this into account I would say 1 player would use about the same speed(384) which means you will be able to have about 7-10 players!

But I would just try it out!

I'm not 100% sure But a 384k line can play 2 players without any lag if its local. So a 4mb line has 4096k down and 512k upload.

I would say about 4-6 player should be able to play with no real problem.

you can go up to 20 players on battlefield with no problem when its more then the problem starts but then u must have gigs coz u gonna use like 60mb per hour per player...
