I use it a business communication medium, it does great with bots and the automation is pretty awesome. Many contacts and people am actually willing to onboard with Telegram to be serviced.

It isn't the only tool I use, but it can be applied to so many use cases.

Business contacts, many. Personal contacts, close to none.
 
Contacts growing at around 2 a month since lockdown started

Because Signal handles the secure comms and most others are on Whatsapp.

But if I ever needed to transfer pictures in the most complex manner possible.. I'll use a pigeon.
 
We've also moved four major groups to Telegram of hundreds of users each, so I have those four big groups. But in my personal contacts I must have a few hundred. But how many do I chat to on a regular basis? Not many, I still use Whatsapp for that.
 
I literally only use Whatsapp to communicate with our local fibre group to inform residents how our "When are we getting fibre" campaign are going and a few crime alert channels.

Everyone else I chat with on Telegram. Telegram is superior to Whatsapp and their desktop apps are way ahead of Whatsapp's useless web-app. Yesterday they also added Video calling. Works fine.

Granted this is a phonebook that has been growing since my early 20's. A lot of the people I dont have contact with. But that is not what this thread is about. It is to see how many people in your contacts (whether they are active contacts of yours or not) use Telegram. :)

How does one check? I see my telegram contacts list but other than manually counting them one by one? Sorry to be that guy. Been using Telegram for about 5 seconds...
 
I have about 26. But I don't have that many people in my phonebook anyway.

I do though chat to just about everyone I know with Telegram.
 
Guys, not to sound like broken record. I know I am a big Telegram punter, but holy crap the call quality on Telegram has improved A LOT!!!!! It for me beats WhatsApp calls hands down. I have not used WhatsApp for like 2 months, but I remember WhatsApp calls often (not always) used to be rather crappy. BF still uses WhatsApp in paralell with Telegram for work as all his staff is on work WhatsApp groups and always phones him via WhatsApp and he likes using speaker phones, and fck, those calls are terrible. Do yourself a favour, get yourself on Telegram and a friend or family member and just test it a bit, even if just for science and let us know your thoughts on the call quality of Telegram vs WhatsApp.
 
My problem with Telegram has always been that that messages are not end to end encrypted by default. Otherwise, WhatsApp does a decent job that I don't see the usefulness of switching over, especially because everyone is on WhatsApp.

It is really easy to start a secret chat and it is right in your face. Dont even have to go searching for the option. If that is your reason it just means you are lazy.
 
Well when I last had it installed there were 2. Both had last been seen months prior so were not active. So I voted 0.
